When we’re young, buying life insurance can seem preposterous.  But term life is so inexpensive when young, that it can be worth locking in a rate for 10 or 20 or 30 years.  A nonsmoking 28-year-old woman might pay as little as $16 a month for a 20-year policy worth $500 thousand – or increase the coverage to $1 million for about $25 a month.  If you have young children, a term life policy is a no-brainer, particularly if you’re the main breadwinner.  Even if you don’t have children, there may be others who are dependent on your income.  And it doesn’t hurt to lock in a rate in case your responsibilities in life expand.                                                    Kiplinger’s
